BIO
Prize winners of the 10th North International Music Competition in 2022, the Duo Gylling merges two young artists from the USA and Finland. Having performed a wide variety of repertoire together, their sensitive playing and sincere dialog have touched audiences all over Europe.
American violinist Dhyani Gylling, has appeared as guest soloist of the American Romantic Orchestra, the Orchestre des Lauréats du Conservatoire, the Ensemble Royal de Paris, and the Orquesta de Camara Galega, regularly performs in the Oulu Sinfonia Chamber Music series, and was invited to play at numerous music festivals around the world, including the Vermont Mozart Festival and the Music Academy of the West (USA), the Enquentro de Musica Santander (Spain), the Oulu Music Festival and the Ostrobothnian Contemporary Music Festival (Finland), and Les Etoiles du Classique Festival (France). In 2016, Dhyani received a full scholarship at the Yale School of Music where she studied with Prof. Hyo Kang after graduating from the prestigious Mozarteum University in Salzburg under renowned pedagogue Igor Ozim. She went on to pursue an Artist Diploma at the Paris Conservatory, where she met Finnish pianist Kristoffer Gylling, and formed the Duo Gylling in 2018.
Born in Helsinki, multi-prize winning pianist Kristoffer Gylling started the piano with legendary pedagogue Meri Louhous, and graduated from the Sibelius Academy where he studied with Prof. Hamsa Juris and completed his studies at the Paris Conservatory in the class of Michél Beroff. Winner of the 1st prize at the Chopin Competition in Estonia in 2008, and the special prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary piece at the Nordic Piano Competition in 2014, he obtained the 5th prize at the Lyon International Piano Competition in 2019, and the Medal of the city of Epinal at the Epinal International Piano Competition in 2019. Having appeared at the Festival Chopin de Bagatelle and at Radio France, Kristoffer has performed as a solo recitalist, as the pianist of the Ensemble La Chanson Perpétuelle, and has worked as accompanist at the Paris Conservatory for the class of Prof. Michael Hentz.
